Modified double bass and piano, tuned A D G C. c.4'0
This piece was written for Allan Von Schenkel?s instrument, the Solo Bass, tuned one fourth higher than the orchestra bass. "I do this", he said, "because it has a colorful solo voice with a wide range and because it removes many of the technical limitations of the bass" and "I read music at the sounding pitch like the cello". From a Lake of Honey is a piece which might 'sing'. It is really a landscape of the mind, a simple musical work, which gives opportunities for an imaginative collaboration between performers and audience as they 'journey' to a 'lake of honey'.
